So many cardinals hang out on the oak tree behind my house.
Male cardinals are striking, sure, but I'm used to them. It's female cardinals that are capturing my interest these days. Their greenish bodies and red-tipped wings and brilliant scarlet beaks. Unfortunately, they're skittish little sumbitches and I haven't been able to take a photo of them, so this is from the Internet.
I can't believe I'm already talking in goodbye-speak considering it's only February, but I'll miss waking up to the chuckling of birds and the sunrise over the mountains.
