For what's it's worth, this storm did not happen sideways.

I sort of relish the lack of control that massive storms can bring, as long as no one is freezing to death or anything terrible like that. There's something peaceful about the inconvenience of being snowed in, or not having Internet access. Power outages when I was a kid brought Scrabble by candlelight, and I was always secretly disappointed when the lights came back on. Everybody had to get up and be responsible again.
