I really cannot remember a winter storm so otherworldly-surreal-glittery-white. I've seen ice storms and five feet of snow but nothing that ever looked so haunting. It's really beautiful, and like all knock-the-wind-out-of-you landscapes, individual snapshot vignettes betray the magnitude of every detail of light and space stitched together on your eyeballs. But here's an icy branch.

This is exactly what I imagined when you wrote me about your snowday. My sister and I use to fight over who would get to jump out into the snow and mess up the neat, white, even layer first.
