Farewell Dube meal. This tea is being consumed with a heavy heart.

The first couple of hours here were tentative. I'd be leisurely unpacking my things, listening to Nebraska, when a tidal wave of panic would pull me under without warning. Mostly though, I feel undramatically displaced and sad.

When I studied in France, on my first day of class, my professor encouraged us to make the most of our experience with this French expression: "J'y suis, j'y reste." Literally, it's "Here I am, Here I remain." I've been carrying that around with me. It seems like a sadsack, glass-half-empty version of "Carpe diem."
